PURPOSE OF THE FORUM

Garmap sponsor this forum to generate relaxed and friendly support for Garmin GPS Receiving devices and Garmap mapsets in a non-threatening environment. Accordingly, we do not promote, support or criticise competing companies or their products.

 

 

SPIRIT
We facilitate and share advice on the forum in a spirit of mutual respect for fellow members. To ensure that members maintain and respect this ethos, administrative staff (members of the ‘admin group’ and moderators) may intervene on the forum when required. Although we are not responsible for the content or accuracy of any posted messages, the admin group reserve the right to delete or discontinue posts that violate the spirit of our forum community. In cases of persistent and wilful abuse of our code, the administrators will cancel the membership of the person concerned. Members themselves may report violations of the forum to the ‘admin group’ by using the private message function.

We have compiled a code of conduct (Terms of Service - TOS) to preserve and promote a harmonious environment. Please read the code bearing in mind that Garmap will amend the terms, whenever needed, to adapt to the changing environment.

 

 

TERMS OF SERVICE

1) You agree to abide by the decision of the ‘admin group’ (or moderator) on matters of forum conduct. Their say is final.


2) You are, and remain solely responsible for your posts and behaviour on the forum.

 

 

3) The owners, ‘admin group’ and moderators on the forum reserve the right to remove, move, edit, or close threads or topics on the forum.


You agree –

4) To remain on topic when posting a thread. The ‘admin group’ will – without debate or prior notice - remove or move posts that deviate from the initial posted topic. To avoid removal, please follow and use the existing forum headings and topic links; alternatively, create a new and appropriate topic heading to initiate your query.

 

 

5) That once the forum has successfully addressed (answered) the initial query posted by a member, the ‘admin group’ or moderator will lock the thread and thereafter remove off-topic comments.

 

 

6) Not to use your posting rights to challenge our code of conduct on the forum, or to rally support from other members to generate a challenge of the code.

 

 

7) Not to promote, support or criticise competing companies or their products on the forum.

 

 

8) Not to promote or advertise your own business interests on the forum.
 
9) Not to create multiple accounts, or personalities on the forum. Forum administration, at their discretion, will cancel that member’s account.

10) To indemnify (hold harmless) the owners of this forum, their staff, subsidiaries, and associated websites with respect to any claim based on any post you may make on the forum. We also reserve the right to reveal whatever information we know about you in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any message you post.

11) Not to use your signature (user name) for advertising or promotion purposes unless with the written permission of the forum administrator.

12) Not to post material, text or images (including avatars and profile images) that are:

False
Defamatory

12) You also agree not to post comments that convey:

13) You agree not to post comments based on -

Sexism

Religion

Politics

14) Or that:

Violate South African or International law
Breach copyright (unless you own the copyright or owner of the copyrighted material has given you written consent to post the material.

15) We also prohibit -
Spam
Flooding

Double posting

Advertising commercial products or business interests
Chain letters
Pyramid schemes
Solicitations

By registering, you agree to abide by these terms of Service and the Garmap code of conduct.
