Is unit charged?
First try to connect the unit to a power source. Most units should switch on. Or change the batteries if the device takes removable batteries
Still not switching on: try to reset the unit.
- A nüvi 3xx/6xx has a reset switch under the Antenna, press it.
- A nüvi 2xx HAS a reset button at the bottom of the unit.
- On nüvi 7xx or any other wide screen unit: slide the power button to the left and hold it there for 30 seconds.
- On a zūmo/Quest/Quest 2 press and hold Zoom in (+) and power at the same time.
- On an Edge/Forerunner hold MODE+POWER.
- On a GPS MAP 60and76 series, unit or a 276c, hold Quit+ POWER.
On a unit that accepts Data/SD Card, remove the SD card. If it switches on without a data card, the card may contain some corrupt data, or be faulty, or you might have loaded the maps twice and (into internal memory and on the card) and the card is not required in the unit.
If it is still not working, contact support.
On Mobile XT / nüvi/zūmo series
- Select Where to?
- Scroll down till you find Junction
Etrex/Quest/60/76 Series
- Select Find
- Select Junctions
If this does not appear then there are no maps loaded to the unit
If it is a nüvi 3xx/6xx the antenna might be closed - lift the flap.
The GPS receiver may been disabled as you are indoors. The fastest way to re-enable it is to switch the unit off and back on.
Does the unit say acquiring satellites? If it does give it 10-15 minutes to acquire
- Make sure GPS is enabled.
- Make sure you have a clear view of the sky.
- Make sure that the unit has maps loaded.
No. The USB cable only provides the unit with a “trickle charge” to keep the unit alive for a few minutes. You will need a 12v cigarette DC Charger or a 220v AC/DC wall Charger to fully charge your unit.
The nüvi will simulate a route when the GPS is turned off. To turn the GPS "on" on a nüvi 3xx or 6xx simply lift up the antenna in the back of the Garmin. The antenna will need to have a clear view of the sky in order to acquire satellites.
This may happen on the nüvi 2xx range.
Go to www8.garmin.com, select updates and downloads, unit software. Download and install WebUpdater and perform all updates. Search for additional updates and Choose – Text Language Updates.
Stand outside and make sure you have a clear view of the sky. If the unit indicates a location in UK,USA OR TAIWAN the unit will take a while to acquire satellites as it needs to establish its initial position.

- Press menu once > select new location, enter.
- Select manual, enter.

If it does not acquire after 20 minutes please update the GPS firmware. This must be downloaded via WebUpdater: go to www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp or www.garmin.com > support > updates downloads > unit software. Download and install WebUpdater and perform all updates. If the problem persists return the unit to the dealer so for return to Avnic for inspection.

- At the top of the screen it most probably says "find near me".
- Select menu.
- Select find by name.

- Press Menu twice and scroll down to Map Info.
- Check that Streetmaps is loaded. If any other maps are loaded, re-load the Streetmaps.

- Press and hold the PAGE+POWER+MENU at the same time while unit is switched off. It will power up and say erase all user data, say yes..
- You then need to let the GPS acquire satellites (it will take a while) and should sort out the problem.
